The water damage situation in The Adelaide CBD.
The dedicated team at Flood Fixers recently headed into the Adelaide CBD bright and early on a Sunday morning to assist one of our valued customers with water damage restoration for His inner-city 2 storey townhouse. The water ingress into the townhouse was due to heavy rain resulting in an overflowing box gutter. A blockage in the box gutter from built-up leaves and debris stopped the water from flowing away fast enough, and the water back flowed into the ceiling space and eventually made its way inside our client’s townhouse.
The Water Damage caused by this event.
As a result of this unfortunate incident our clients’ upstairs ceiling space, internal walls, upstairs carpet and downstairs ceiling space all suffered raised moisture and water damage. Subsequent moisture readings confirmed high moisture readings to these areas.
- Wet saturated carpets and underlay
- High moisture readings to walls, ceiling and structure throughout the townhouse
- Minor water damage to some content items
Our Initial water damage concerns:
Our initial concerns and challenging issues that we needed to overcome to remediate and restore our client’s townhouse back to pre-loss condition included the following.
- Locating all the moisture within our client’s townhouse.
- Removing the trapped moisture underneath the upstairs carpet and underlay.
- Drying inside both the upstairs and downstairs ceiling spaces.
- Completely drying all walls and structure to avoid any ongoing issues.
Our water damage restoration process:
Our professional and highly dedicated Adelaide water damage restoration team implemented the following steps to successfully restore our client’s townhouse back to its original condition.
Step 1 – Our team arrived fast to limit the water damage (even on a Sunday morning)
Step 2 – The Flood Fixers crew conducted intensive thermal imaging to locate and pinpoint every drop of moisture within the townhouse.
Step 3 – Flood Fixers wasted no time and began extracting the excess water from the wet carpet and underlay straight away.
Step 4 – Where possible the carpet was pulled back and the wet underlay was removed.
Step 5 – Specialised drying equipment was then installed to lower the humidity levels and to heat up the structure to facilitate efficient structural drying of the entire townhouse.
Step 6 – Hot dry air was also ducted into the ceiling spaces to ensure proper structural drying of these difficult to reach areas.
Step 7 – Once the drying process was completed our team steam cleaned all affected carpets and cleaned and treated all areas with a specialised anti-microbial treatment.
